Green Bins

Have you received your letter regarding green bins?

If you currently have a green bin it will continued to be emptied until the first week of April.  If you have not purchased your new bin by this time it will be taken away.

If you would like to keep your bin, or if you do not have one and would like one you can still qualify for a reduced rate..but you only have until 31st March.  visit www.boroughofpoole.com for more information.

Please note that if you do not already have a green bin you may have to wait until later in the summer for delivery of your bin.

If you have any views about the green bin policy in Poole we would still like to hear from you.  Your Broadstone councillors all campaigned for a FREE service to residents but unfortunately the Conservative and Poole People councillors did not support this scheme and a chargeable scheme was effected.  We continue to believe that a free scheme would be fairer and more environmentally friendly and welcome your comments.

Broadstone Rec – Field in Trust Status

We have been successful in gaining the approval of the council for Broadstone Recreation Ground and Plainfield Farm (football ground) to be designated as a QEII Jubilee Field in Trust (FiT).
This protects the site as a place for recreation and sport for future generations as well as marking this once in a lifetime occasion of a Diamond Jubilee.

What’s more, the application opens doors to funding for sport and recreation and together with a committee of stakeholders we are making bids for money to enhance our natural environment and our sporting facilities.

This project is likely to run for a number of years, with some of our projects being short term – with ideas like an orienteering course, improved management of the hedgerows and bridges – through to major medium to long term plans for levelling and remarking of football pitches and renovated pavilions.

This is very much a community led project and some of the work will be led by volunteer groups whilst others will be managed by the Borough of Poole and undertaken by professional contractors.

This is the opportunity for a real legacy for the next generation and i hope you will feel able to support it by helping to fundraise, attending our events and giving us ideas for further enhancements.
